Volunteer Testimonials
Emile Baizel (USA)
I initially planned to visit the orphanage for half a day. I ended up staying for over a month. Bishwa, Puja and all of the children welcomed me like family and living at the orphanage with all of them has been an amazing experience. The children are super enthusiastic about their schoolwork and I am going to miss helping them with their English and giving the older children challenging math problems. They all have a very smiling, positive attitude which is even more beautiful to see when you consider the extremely difficult backgrounds from which they all came.
Bishwa and Puja work tirelessly and selflessly in running the orphanage which is in addition to the other projects they are running and I am grateful I was able to help them out for a while. If you are looking to volunteer someplace where you can see firsthand the difference you are making in a child's life, this is the place. If you are unable to come by to volunteer then donating money, clothes or other items are always welcomed and very much needed especially since Happy Home is now preparing to open another orphanage.
Thank you Happy Home!

Although we only spent a short period of time at Happy Home, we feel incredibly attached and moved by the generosity of the people here and what it is achieving for the underprivileged Nepali children. We were overwhelmed by the sheer happiness of these bright and beautiful individuals. Their positive attitudes, smiles and energy have been inspirational to us both. The experience has been truly unforgettable. We would highly recommend this to other volunteers as both a rewarding and eye opening experience. Any donations received here would be highly valued and utilized in the most effective way possible. Working at the children's school showed us how these underprivileged but highly intelligent children have been given a chance for a better future. This will prove to be a life altering opportunity which should form part of every child's right. We feel privileged to have been a part of such a special and loving organization and we wish them every success in the future.

I spent five weeks working and living at Happy Home during my travels and it was the most amazing experience I could have hoped for. I got to see Nepalese culture first hand and it was absolutely incredible being able to spend time with such lovely children. Bishwa has done a brilliant job with the orphanage. Spending time there has completely broadened my horizons and I can't wait to go back and see the children! I hope to continue supporting the orphanage and I recommend it as a fantastic place to volunteer and donate to.

In summer 2009 I decided to visit Nepal with the objective of not only experiencing this beautiful country, its culture and people, but also contributing to one of its worthwhile projects. The Happy Home is one of such projects and that’s where I spent half of my time while visiting Nepal. Needless to say how intense and inspiring this experience was. It was amazing to witness children’s’ appreciation for the simple things such as pencils, rubbers, books etc. Although they need many material things to be covered, they need love and affection more than anything else.
If you are asking yourself: “What will change by me going there and then leaving?” The answer maybe nothing in the short term but in the long run you fill their little hearts with love you’re your affection. Take a friend, ‘one loving heart may not be enough for 17 little ones.’ And little by little they will receive what other children have. But it is up to us to contribute in our own ways. These children love and appreciate you for anything you do for them.

I worked at Happy Home from May 20 to Oct. 7, 2008 at Happy Home. In the first weeks I visited regularly the Happy Home Orphanage. There I played with the kids and helped them with their homework. This was a great experience which I don't want to miss. I guess it was for the kids also very interesting to get new input from foreign people. I also taught in their school for two weeks which as well was very interesting for me. After this I spend some times in the office of Happy Home to help to develop this organization. Here I was more able to place in my skills. I can fully recommend Happy Home as an organization which is worth to support either as a volunteer or as a donator. Happy Home is a newly found charity and is unfortunately still not well established. But this just means that every volunteer can make a difference with its work.

After volunteering at Happy Home it was very difficult to tear myself away. The organization is really helping these disadvantaged but adorable children. In my time as a volunteer I was able to provide assistant in the office and with various paperwork, as well as assisting at the orphanage. The most rewarding part was just being with the kids, who are cheerful, kind and smart. They urgently need assistance from donors and volunteers to provide them with their needs and comforts, so that they can succeed in school and look forward to a prosperous adult life.

I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to volunteer at Happy Home for a short time. The children, who have all come from difficult circumstances and backgrounds, are an inspiration and a joy to be around. They are eager to learn and were very responsive to my lessons. And they definitely appreciate the company of foreign volunteers, even if it is just to help them with homework, play games and sing songs. Happy Home is a fledging non-profit organization and founder and volunteers are working hard to provide the children with their basic needs of food, shelter, education and a family environment, and to give them the opportunities they deserve. In a small organization like this, any contribution can make a difference, be it a donation of money, food or clothing, or time by way of volunteering at the orphanage.

I had the privilege of visiting 'The Happy Home Orphanage'in January 2008 during which time I was able to witness firsthand the amazing project Bishwa has undertaken to care for the young orphans of Nepal. The Happy Home Orphanage is really special in the sense that it is creditably trying to meet the childrens educational, medical and parental needs in a really warm, loving and caring environment. After my visit I have stayed in close contact with the Happy Home Orphanage and along with my workmates at Motor Yacht Kingdom we have become a sponsor in an attempt to support the great work that is being undertaken there. I would thoroughly recommend the Happy Home Orphanage as a worthy charity to anyone who is interested in sponsorship or volunteer work as unlike larger charities, you can witness firsthand the result of your support and be confident that the children will see all your donations rather than it getting filtered down through administration fees.
Wishing Bishwa and the kids all the best!!
